What? Where's the tree?

I know it is getting to be that time of year. The snow fell a while back and I can see twinkle lights outside my favorite window.
Every year the humans put a big tree up in the middle of the room for me to climb and it's not here yet.
Every year it's been there, every year I can't wait from the moment they take it down.
I challenge myself ever year to climb higher, smash as many dangly things as I can spot hanging from the branches.

Why is there no tree?!?

:(

Edit: Two days before catnip day (better known to the humans as Christmas) the humans put up the tree! And they left it up for longer to make up for not putting it up sooner! I love my humans...most of the time...well...when they give me stuff.

Meow

It's been a while since I've padded across the internets. Snow has fallen outside once more and we've all been rather occupied with trying to catch it.

Tiggy has managed to steal quite a few toys off the selves in the hallway, but for some reason the human just seems to get angry and puts them back on the shelf. Ok so he broke one, how was he to know that toy frog was gonna lose a foot just from batting it off the shelf. That's what you get when you buy inferior toys, it wasn't even squishy like a toy should be, it was all shiney and hard! Made a horrible toy anyways.

I am all full up with the kibbles, I think some might be falling out my ears soon if I eat anymore...hmm I wonder if that would happen? I wonder who I can trick into trying it for me?

I of course reclaimed the land of Duckie north of the water heater once more. The humans have more or less given up trying to steal it back. It is a good time to be a citizen of Duckia; seeing as I am the only citizen of course it is good times for me!

Duckia reclaimed once more!

Spotted a squirrel yesterday; it was outside of course, spoil all my fun, but still got my mouth a drooling and my teeth a chattering. I could almost feel that fluffy squirrel tail in my mouth. When I bit down on it though I realized three things.
One, I was day dreaming as the squirrel really was outside.
Two, that Teddy Bear had also spotted the squirrel and while I was day dreaming managed to wiggle in front of me.
And three, that Teddy screams like girl when you bite his tail.

No lasting damage done but he won't be getting in front of me at the window any time soon.
MOL!

Updates on the crew

It's been a while since I did any updates on the crew so I'll just take this time seeing as the humans aren't hogging the computer again.

Many bugs have been caught and eaten over the last few months, a great many kibbles too. The catnip has been flowing freely and the crinkle ball has been particularly sneaky hiding away when I wasn't looking forcing me into 'stalk it' mode.

Tiggy finally had his overnight sleepover at the vet's house so now my favorite wrestling move "Ball Bite" is doing nothing at all. It's a shame as it's my best move but now everyone is immune to it (of course Patches was born immune, so unfair!).

Teddy and Bambi have been doing the twin snuggle a lot except when it was hot, then they escaped to the basement where it is cooler.

I was forced to defend the land of Duckia north of the waterheater AGAIN. I think that area will always be under dispute seeing as the humans continually try to shoo me off the top of the waterheater. Still I will continue to take it back as it is mine no matter how many times I am driven away.

Patches has pretty much been herself, bratty as ever picking fights then squealing for her favorite human when anyone manages to pin her. Currently she is chasing a fake furry mouse across the floor as though it were real. MOL! My crinkleball is so much cooler.

The 3 old furts Rocky, Mimi and Spooky have been keeping to themselves for the most part. Spooky and Rocky grooming each other and talking loud enough to wake the humans, Mimi hiding off on her own somewhere.

My nannybug, when not sleeping on his favorite human's bed, has been teaching Tiggy some battle moves, mostly so Patches won't know what hit her next time she picks on him and partly because he has become too friendly with Patches, the little traitor!

Smokey and Missy have been hanging out in the basement window when it was hot and the regular room windows when it wasn't. I hang out in windows, but those two live there during the summer when not smacking us around (Missy thinks she is sheriff of Duckia) or hunting real mice (Smokey, the mouse bandit).

Things have overall been good. Oh and look what the humans just did MOL!

I am so not wearing one of those! *run run run*
MOL Patches is jingling!

I was featured on huggincats.com!

Ok my nannybug was too as we were hugging each other for the photos.

This banner thing was made for humans because it doesn't say "I was featured on huggingcats.com" but it'll work. Click the banner to visit this cool site (click the pictures of me and Lokki to see our feature)!

Its been a long month.

I haven't used this blog thing in a while because I was sad.
We lost a member of the crew a few weeks ago.

My good friend and fellow crew member Toby (Tobias Cupid) died.

Side view from his mug shots MOL!

He was a gallant bug sniper in the last big bug hunt; got the lost bug hours before most realized it wasn't going to be found. He may have walked funny and bonked all of us with his nose a little too hard when going in for a face sniff because of his disablity but he was family. When he jumped he flew unlike any cat I have ever met and maybe he didn't always land right, but he got right back up and tried it again. He was good at climbing too. He'd climb all over the place, anything he could sink his claws into.

Toby, hogging the bed as usual! :)

Toby we are all going to miss your funny antics, your strange fondness for dressing up on halloween (which also happened to be your birthday), your slightly bobbing head and loud footsteps. We are going to miss your voice calling out late at night when you think you're all alone. We are going to miss everything (ok maybe we won't miss the hogging of the bed but we always had another bed to choose from) about you because you were one of us. We will even miss the fights that happened ever now and then because when it was all said and done there was always a quiet snuggle to be had. You were always such a happy cat.

I never got around to properly introducing you, and for that I am sorry. I hope this makes up for in in some way.

See you at the rainbow bridge someday buddy.

Meet the newest member of the crew!

Say hello to Tiggy!

Tiggy Ponders the meaning of hairballs

Seeing as the T brothers (Tiny and Tiger) were only honorary crew and have since moved on to their new homes we just had to find a new crew member whose name starts with a T.

Meet Tiggy!
He's my nannybug's newest apprentice and one of my favorite sparring partners. Plus he hasn't gone for his vet sleep over yet so I can pull that winning battle move of mine hehehe

He's not to bad for such a skinny little guy, he moves fast as lightning. He already excels at wrapping his tail around the humans and getting them to spoil him, something my sister Patches highly approves of for as long as it doesn't interfere with her manipulation time or attention.

My first day

First day on twitter, got followed by a dog, hissed and ran up a virtual tree.

Is he gone yet? *looks down*

Nope!

Oh wait, my human is following me too. Chase away the scary dog please!

A new way to bounce on the net

I has a twitter!

ANOTHER LAND OF DUCKIA BEGINS

Now for all those shorter words of wisdom, brief tales of adventure and other quick commentary without taking a whole entry here.

Or you know for just burping at those fake twitter birds!

I'm not a Duck, I'm DUCKY!

This means I don't actually like water, this also means no I don't want to be submerged in running water for what humans call a bath. I can take baths just fine by myself you know, I'm like 4 now! I don't even need Nannybug to wash behind my ears or anything!

Ok so I may have gotten some gooey stuff on my fur, but I was looking forward to discovering just what that was, and if it is worth doing again for another taste.

Also I am ORANGE not yellow, I don't have feathers (that was an isolated incident, let's just say I ate something with feathers ok?), I don't quack unless I have a hairballs, I don't have wings, though I wouldn't mind some of them actually as it would make catching the birds outside my window that much easier.

Also I DON'T LIKE WATER!!!

Oooh it's Patches turn for a bath, I gotta see this!

The Great Bug Hunt

Thank you for joining us in the great bug hunt March 2010.
To recap what you missed because you were goofing off on the internet:

Teddy spotted a crawling bug on the floor. Being a cat and all he promptly chased after it drawing the attention of the rest of the crew. A few minutes of what can only be described as fierce pawing and a minute of Missy smacking everyone near and taking over left us with a missing bug that no one noticed running off and hiding under a piece of furniture when her back was turned fighting.

And now back to the hunt in progress.

There seems to be quite a bit of sniffing going on. Teddy is currently searching in the spot he first discovered the bug, hoping for another to appear like the last. It's a long shot, but you know we've all done it at least once. Bambi and Smokey are checking the walls as I watch from a perch high on the kitchen table. Missy has stalked off to her bed, letting the others do all the work again until the steal it moment. Patches and Lokki are circling the area where the bug might have run off to, noses to the ground for any possible bug scent left behind.

The old furts Mimi, Spooky and Rocky are sleeping not bothering to care about a stray bug, and we not bothering to let them know a bug was found to begin with (Mimi really REALLY likes bugs). Toby is kinda off to one side bobbing his head like crazy trying to sniff out the bug on his own.

*eyes narrow*

Was that a flicker of tiny movement over there by the carpet?

*pounces*

Oh, it was just a bump in the carpet caused by Toby's movements over by the bug...BUG?
HE FOUND IT! He found...awww. He ate it already!

Who would of thought Toby's technique would work! Or that he could swallow a bug so fast!

*looks around room at cats still searching*

Hmm let's not tell them the hunt's over just yet okay? :)

Oh yay!

My nannybug just got picked to be the catster cat of the day! Currently you can spot him on the front page of catster but don't wait long to look. Tomorrow a new cat will be chosen.

Yay!

Many purrs and meows for the best bud in the whole world!

Lokki and Bambi have celebratory hug.

EEEK!

DOGS!!!
Oh my kibble, I HEAR DOGS!!!

*run run run hide*

*peeks out of hiding place seeing the crew standing around*

What are you guys doing? There's dogs! They came back!
Why are you all laughing at me?

*leaves hiding spot, peeks around corner*

I don't see dogs.

*sniff*

I don't smell dogs.
Where are they?

*looks around*

OHHHHH! TV! I'll fix that!

*walks across human while stepping on remote*

Really, you humans should consult with me before picking a channel. Sheesh!

*stare*

*Stare*

*Stare*

*Stare*

*checks kibble bowl*

*Stare*

*Stare*

Um this thing doesn't fill itself you know.

*Watches cascade of kibble falling into bowl*

*Snatches an errant piece out of the air*

Ah. Full bowl of kibble. I think I'll take a nap now.

No no, that kibble isn't for eating...not yet anyway.
Gotta let it breathe a little...Ok it's breathed enough.
Kibble prepare to take your last breath!
NOM NOM NOM!

Saturday, January 16, 2010

Oh yay! I gots mail!

Had my name on it and everything! I never got mail before, so cool!
Inside was the ornament I won from Susan Faye before Christmas.

Of course I didn't realize that's what it was at first. The humans got so excited I thought they might be opening another bag of treats. Then Patches charmed her way through the crowd of us cats and got a first peek even before me! But that turned out okay because all she saw was another envelope and after not smelling anything tasty ran off before she could see the ornament.

I've given orders to the crew that under no circumstances are they to break it...accidentally or otherwise. Already today I had to tackle Teddy Bear to keep him away from where the humans put it. He said he just wanted to see it having been sleeping when it arrived but no way is anyone getting close.

It looks like a little food bowl squished flat hehe I love it!

*purrrs*

Friday, January 15, 2010

Whoa!

I don't know what the old water bowl said to Rocky, the eldest of the crew but I still don't see any reason for him to dive bomb it.
Out of nowhere Rocky went running and body slammed into the water bowl. He managed to knock the bowl out of the stand and knock out all the water without tipping the bowl over.

I give him a 9.5/10 on the awesome pounce scale, a 9/10 on precision but a 2/10 on smart thinking.
Can you imagine what would of happened if I had been standing on the end of this whole thing?
There's water everywhere and anyone who got stuck in the kitchen when it happened is now shaking their toes in disgust as they walk through the water to get out.

OH WOW PATCHES GOT SO WET!

I think that boosts Rocky's awesome pounce to a full 10 and I'll add a couple more smart points just for getting Patches...hehe she looks mad...eek looking at me?

*run run run*

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Phew that was some Christmas!

It's been a couple weeks of turkey scraps, treats both soft and crunchy galore and plenty of new toys to totally ignore.

We even got a cool new litter box that looks like an igloo! As though playing in there wasn't already fun! It has a slide inside and everything!!!

Got another fresh water bowl...I don't know how those humans make the water move in there but it sure beats batting at the old bowl. I sure was missing the old one when it started coughing and not moving the water months ago.

I managed to make it 2/3 the way up the tree this year, a purrsonal best! Plus I got bonus points for breaking a really ugly and dangly ornament of a dog hanging up in there.

The crew and I have been lazing around for the last two weeks when we weren't playing with empty present boxes and chasing new crinkle balls (I KNEW IT!), Patches even got a whole new pack of fuzzy mice, which are now all hiding under the stove with the last ones. I wonder if we can get a tiny mouse sized cat next year to chase those things out of there. I think they are up to something gathering in the safety of numbers and all.

I hope all you cats and kittens out there were spoiled beyond reason as well and had a Merry Christmas.
I'm gonna go watch the snow cover up the windows. It's funny watching my nannybug trying to bat it away to look out.
